Admission Procedure

 

 

Admission to BG 1st/2nd semester begins with the issuing of admission notification by the Kashmir University which the college is affiliated to. The total intake capacity of the college is 240. The desirous candidates register their names on the admission link (google link) provided by the college. After the last date is over, the college prepares and publishes separate merit list of open and reserved category candidates. The selected candidates download their admission forms from the Kashmir University website and deposit the same in the college IT &SS/ admission section against prescribed fee after proper verification of documents by the admission committee.

Interaction of the Worthy Principal with the Faculty Members on the Commencement of New Academic Session

Government Degree College (Women) Kupwara marked the commencement of the new academic session with enthusiasm and a spirit of renewed commitment. On this occasion, the worthy principal convened a meeting with the Permanent and Academic Arrangement faculty members in his office to interact and discuss the roadmap for the upcoming session. During the interaction, he welcomed the faculty and emphasized the importance of maintaining academic excellence, discipline, and a student-centric approach in teaching. He appreciated the dedication and efforts of the staff and encouraged them to work collectively for the overall development of the institution. Various academic matters, including effective teaching strategies, student engagement, and co-curricular activities, were discussed in detail. The faculty members expressed their views, shared suggestions, and assured their full cooperation in achieving the academic goals of the college. Dr. Shazia Lone, HoD EVS presented the vote of thanks and the interaction concluded on a positive note, reflecting a shared vision and commitment towards making the academic session productive and successful.

National Flag Unfurling Ceremony on 77th Republic Day

A National Flag Unfurling Ceremony was held at Government Degree College (Women), Kupwara at 8:30 a.m. The Principal unfurled the National Flag, followed by the singing of the National anthom. Faculty members, and staff participated in the ceremony, which was conducted in a dignified and patriotic atmosphere.

Welcoming our New Principal, Dr Bilal Ahmad Dar

On 01 January 2026, Dr. Bilal Ahmad Dar formally assumed charge as the new Principal of the college. The occasion was marked with a warm and cordial welcome by the faculty members, who felicitated the Principal with bouquets and flowers.

Patriotic Song Competition

As part of the Republic Day Celebrations, 2026, the college successfully organized a Patriotic Song Competition on 22nd January 2026. The programme was conducted with great enthusiasm and patriotic zeal, witnessing active participation from both college faculty members and students. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Wani, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, and students. In his address, he highlighted the significance of Republic Day and emphasized the importance of organizing such activities to nurture patriotism and national values among students.

Sociological Tour to Tribal Villages (Moori, Nagsari and Thayan) of Kalaroos

As part of the syllabus, the students of 7th Semester along with Faculty members, Prof. Muneer Ahmad Khan, Dr Maqsooda and Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah went to visit tribal villages of Kalaroos for academic field visit. The primary objective of this visit is to provide students with first hand exposure to tribal life and to help them understand the socio-cultural and economic conditions of tribal communities.
