Botany as a subject has been introduced to equip students with knowledge and skills pertaining to all areas of plant science including evolution, physiology, anatomy, developmental biology, genetics etc. A student after graduating with botany as one of the subjects can have career opportunities in horticulture, agriculture, forestry, pomology, environmental biology etc. The major course outcomes are:

To help students develop a conceptual framework of the diverse life forms and enable them to distinguish between prokaryotes and eukaryotes.

To impart basic knowledge about the general characteristics, life cycle, structure and classification of Algae, Fungi, Bryophytes, Pteridophytes and Gymnosperms.

To introduce the students to basic ecological concepts like trophic structure, productivity, nutrient cycling, energy flow and endemism.

To provide an understanding of  plant taxonomy, anatomy, morphology and embryology.

To impart awareness about plant water relations and transport mechanism in addition to basic physiological processes viz. photosynthesis and respiration.

To provide knowledge about the concepts of plant breeding and genetics, biotechnology, economic botany, plant pathology and horticulture.

Patriotic Song Competition

As part of the Republic Day Celebrations, 2026, the college successfully organized a Patriotic Song Competition on 22nd January 2026. The programme was conducted with great enthusiasm and patriotic zeal, witnessing active participation from both college faculty members and students. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Wani, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, and students. In his address, he highlighted the significance of Republic Day and emphasized the importance of organizing such activities to nurture patriotism and national values among students.

Sociological Tour to Tribal Villages (Moori, Nagsari and Thayan) of Kalaroos

As part of the syllabus, the students of 7th Semester along with Faculty members, Prof. Muneer Ahmad Khan, Dr Maqsooda and Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah went to visit tribal villages of Kalaroos for academic field visit. The primary objective of this visit is to provide students with first hand exposure to tribal life and to help them understand the socio-cultural and economic conditions of tribal communities.
